Thanks to the University of Southern California Center on Public Diplomacy for publishing HEALTHY RESPONSES AMID TURMOIL: MEDICAL DIPLOMACY AND CITIZEN PROTEST. As the image below suggests, the blog is indeed about the current civil society protests across Lebanon, but it is also about the unsung heroes and heroines of the Mental Health Services team of the U.S. Department of State. The piece is inspired by my dad and mom, he being a psychiatrist and she being Lebanese. Happy new year, and may it be a peaceful and prosperous one for all of us, as well as the beginning of a new era for the people in the land of the cedars, who are uniting to reject all of the country’s corrupt politicians.
